Happy Black Friday to all who celebrate! If you haven’t muted me on Instagram yet you may have seen me post a few shopping pieces I’ve recently written for *Vogue* (23 year old me is squealing). While I could not be more grateful and excited to be writing for them, the stint has come with an unwelcome side effect of excessive online shopping — and, therefore, excessive online purchasing (because why do one without the other…). I’m quickly approaching the line of being overly Retail-Therapized, but no pumping the breaks just yet as Cyber Monday is quickly approaching and I have no self control.
Below, a list of everything I’ve bought this week…and, again, please don’t do the math.
*I may earn a small commission if you buy a product using my links :)
Aeyde Black Ankle Boots
Yes, I own both pairs of these boots. They are COMPLETELY different and not at all alike and I needed both pairs and I will keep telling myself this every morning when I put either pair on, which is often as they are the only two pairs of shoes I’ve worn for the last three weeks. The patent pair on the left are on sale and an extra 20% off right now, which hopefully makes up for the fact that the pair on the right are not on sale at all.
The Best Jeans (But Actually)
I’m not the first to sing Moussy’s praises and definitely won’t be the last, but they really outdid themselves with this pair. They run TTS and are perfect for basically any occasion. I cheated a little and bought this wash on sale before they sold out (still a few sizes left!) but saw this wash at Neiman’s and now need them too.
A.W.A.K.E. Mode Split Hem Pants
I recently wore a similar pair of pants by Norma Kamali (see here) but to be completely honest I’ve never had pants sag more in my life, and no one needs a saggy butt. I love that a split hem shows off whatever shoes you’re wearing — I’ll be replacing mine with these and pairing them with a longer sweater or button down for casual days and a short short mini dress for events…I’m also eyeing this black jacket that is paired with them and is an extra 10% off today.
A Work Tote That Actually Fits Things
Cuyans actually kind enough to send me one of their System Totes this fall and it truly solves all of my work bag woes. It fits my laptop, workout clothes, snacks, and didn’t cost half my rent so I feel like I’m allowed to rest it on the subway floor. I’m also in need of new travel pouches since the ones I bought in Mexico finally broke 3 years later and am eyeing these.
The Perfect Cashmere Sweater
So this is another non-sale item that was purchased as a result of my outrage at the fact that most Khaite sweaters up to 50% off are STILL over $1k. That is just plain wrong. I wish I could express just how much I love this absolutely perfect magnificent buttery soft alternative from Guest in Residence but I still won’t do it justice. I LOVE THIS SWEATER. You need it. Buy it. I know it is still expensive but if you just skip like 3 work out classes, 2 dinners out, one spontaneous trip to Zara and lattes for a week you’ll basically break even.
I Am Now a Peacoat Person
It was high time for a new classic navy jacket as that’s all I ever seem to wear in winter and the seams were splitting on last season’s go-to. Again, I know this is expensive, but a coat is definitely something to invest in (my last one lasted 6 years!). I also admittedly got the last one left that was a 50% off on Selfridges BUT it’s 30% off at MyTheresa and full price in a full size run on Matches (who am I to deny the economy a boost). If you’re wondering how my neck is going to stay warm, see below for my new favorite article of clothing and the answer to this problem.
A Cashmere Bandana
I actually bought my first cashmere bandana (center) when I was in London last month and love her so much that I did some investigating and found two others in beige and black that I definitely needed (definitely). They’re so chic and fun and keep your neck warm and are easy to tie. We love a no-muss-no-fuss situation and who doesn’t want to look like a cowgirl all the time?
My First Successful Skims Haul
I am relying HEAVILY on my belief that all of my straight male followers muted me long ago and therefore will never read any of these posts, so there’s absolutely no harm in telling the internet what underwear I’m wearing. I actually took a while to hop on the Skims bandwagon but I am nothing if not determined and continued to purchase items until I understood the hype. Alas — the BEST BRA I HAVE EVER WORN. I’m not over it. I’m not exactly lacking in regards to the girls and always struggle to find a bra that does what it’s supposed to without doing too much or too little. Leave it to Kim K to solve yet another of the world’s problems. I also threw in a cotton tee because you can never have too many and it was under $50 (AKA free according to girl math) and this lacey set that makes me feel like Alix Earle.
My Future NYE Jacket Situation
I’ve been blessed by the PR girls at Rhode and this adorable little number will arrive just in time for the holidays. I can’t wait to wear it on NYE and/or with a cozy turtleneck and wide leg pants (and my new Aeyde patent boots obv). Never say no to a little sparkle!!!
I love how you write!!
