Wise words from my father growing up: it’s not about the way you ski but the way you look. This is fun advice coming from him because he simultaneously brags about how his ski boots have lasted him over twenty years and I’m pretty sure an update to his ski wardrobe means discovering a jacket in the depths of a closet that he completely forgot about, but wise words nonetheless.
This is not an edit for what to wear on the slopes so much as it is for what to wear off — après, dinners, bopping around town — sometimes it’s fun to lean in to your snow bunny side. The below selection is ski bunny lite because I also wanted to include some pieces I love but could be worn pretty much anywhere, and my new year’s resolution is to stop vacation shopping so this felt like an appropriate adjustment.

The Travel Outfit
Rule #1 of traveling is always wear your bulkiest items to the airport to maximize real estate in your suitcase. Trigger warning: this jacket is expensive. It also is reversible so you can basically just divide the price in two (girl math) and I am a firm believer that you should invest in well-made coats. I saw a meme circulate that said your winter coat is basically equivalent to the car you drive if that puts things in perspective.
1. Reversible Saks Potts coat that I absolutely LOVE. 2. These Moussy jeans are one of the biggest work horses in my closet so if you don’t already own a pair you need to. 3. Chelsea boots from Ganni at a surprisingly un-offensive price point. 4. The latest drop from Mansur Gavriel is gooood and this bag should fit all your bits and bobs while traveling. 5. I’ve sung this scarf’s praises in this newsletter before and calling it a scarf feels offensive as it is SO MUCH MORE. It’s huge and has saved my ass on more than one occasion.
For Bopping Around Town
Why does it feel so right to wear leather pants on a ski vacation? I like to think this look is somehow ski-core without feeling obvious but I may be giving myself too much credit here.
1. This fair isle sweater is almost sold out so run! 2. This beanie is somehow beanieing without being too beanie 3. Leather pants that are real and under $600 4. This shearling coat would pair well with any wide leg pant or jean so it’s really just a practical purchase at this point 5. I have also sent these boots out before but somehow all my friends continue to ask me where my boots are from!!! So either they don’t read this or they barely read this but they’re forgiven.
Not Really for Skiing But It Works
I feel like a heeled boot makes this an out-to-dinner outfit but a flat boot makes it a running errands outfit and we love that!
I love that I would wear all of these things individually, together, skiing, not skiing, you get it. Perfect for grabbing a hot coco in Colorado or running around New York.
1. I’d wear this cardigan with the last four buttons undone and maybe a fun belt too which I’m now realizing I should have included here but there are two others in this edit to choose from so please forgive me. 2. It’s hard to find a really great pair of sunglasses that not everyone has but I think this pair might just be it. 3. I’m honestly mad by how dirty the product shot is doing these pants but they are the iconic Nili Lotan carpenter pants in denim form which we love. So so good. 4. This shearling is so fun. Wear it over a sweater, a tank, even another coat and you’re good to go. 5. I posted about these boots in green on my Instagram a few weeks ago and they have since sold out — they truly are some of the best shoes I’ve purchased in a long while.
For Going Out
If you’re going to Aspen or anywhere of the sort then you’re probably going out at some point or another — going out in sub zero temperatures is a cruel concept for us women but I’ve cracked the code.
1. This is one of the only sweaters that is somehow also sexy if you wear it with nothing underneath. So chic, so warm, and still perfect for a night out. 2. Reformation is making shoes now and they’re actually really good. Don’t slip though because these are NOT practical. 3. A belt that has Khaite vibes but isn’t Khaite although it’s still expensive, but at least not everyone will know where you got it from. 4. The best wide leg jeans ever!!!!! 6. A really cute bag that’s not Prada or Gucci but still just as chic. 5. I love a chunky silver earring, it can make an outfit out of jeans and a plain tee.
